Trump campaign begins vetting potential VPs: report

President Donald Trump's presidential campaign has begun vetting potential running mates, requesting information and sending vetting paperwork to those who are on the shortlist to be Trump's VP should be earn a second term in the White House.

Requests have gone out from the campaign to North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, and Ben Carson were also on that list and may receive paperwork as well, per a source with the AP.

Each of those on the list are vocal supporters of the former president and of his current presidential campaign. The GOP base has rallied around Trump since his conviction on 34 counts of the falsification of business records for having recorded fees paid to his then-attorney Michael Cohen as legal fees in bookkeeping records.
