Former President Donald Trump is leading President Biden by 4 points nationally, according to a 2024 general election poll released Thursday.
Support for Trump was measured at 49%, while 45% of registered voters said they would back Biden in November, the CNN poll conducted by SSRS found.
Only 5% of people surveyed said they would vote for someone other than Trump or Biden.
The topline results are identical to a November survey released by the outlet.
Support for the 81-year-old incumbent among people of color and those younger than age 35 – key voting blocs for Democrats – is also unmoved since last November, with 49% of young voters breaking for Biden and 46% supporting the 77-year-old former president.
Voters of color back Biden at a 57% clip, compared to Trump’s 35% support.
Biden’s 59% unfavorable rating remains higher than Trump’s 55%, according to the poll.
When asked if Biden “deserves to be re-elected,” 66% of voters responded, “No,” the survey found.
More voters – 27% – said they were “enthusiastic” about supporting Trump than the 11% who said the same about Biden.
Similarly, more Republican-aligned voters indicated that they were “extremely motivated” to head to the polls in November than Democrat-aligned voters – 63% to 58%, respectively.
The poll, conducted between Jan. 25 and Jan. 30, comes at a point in the GOP primary race where only former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is standing between Trump and the nomination.
